My name is Mary-Jane Jorden and I am a Pastoral Assistant at St Andrew's Church
Having a baby and raising a young family often stretches parents to the limits. There are potentially issues of health of the child or mother, exhaustion, depression, loss of structure and companionship given by work, responsibility for a tiny baby—to name just a few. It is a challenging time even when things are going well, and at the same time a great joy.
My hope is that I can offer either a listening ear, practical support or prayer to individuals as appropriate. I also want to help create community and thereby mutual support for parents, usually mothers. This might be through the Wednesday morning group, Essence or Stepping Stones.
